The introduction of Self Assessment in 1996/7 radically altered the world of taxation as it applies to individuals. From 6th April 1996 the old system of the Inland Revenue raising assessments and advising individuals of their tax liabilities was scrapped. The new system places the onus squarely on the shoulders of the tax payer who is required to self assess his or her income and then pay over any tax that is due by the appropriate date without further prompting. At Butt Miller we have a good knowledge of how the system works.
Let us put this knowledge and experience to the test for you and allow us to complete your annual self assessment tax returns. We provide an efficient and friendly service that is more than just one of form filling. When preparing the return each year we critically review the information provided to confirm that it is in accordance with our expectations (and protecting you from the consequences of non disclosure), we look at our files for other relevant information, we assess your position to see if it can be sensibly improved upon and we quantify your tax liabilities in good time in order to allow you to budget for them.
Our service does not stop there. We also assess, as far as possible, the current tax year to see if there is scope to reduce your tax payments on account so that at any particular time the Inland Revenue only have the correct amount of tax that is due from you. We review PAYE coding notices that are sent in to us and we generally conclude our letters that enclose your tax return with some relevant tip.
Additionally, we are always happy to respond to our clients’ ad hoc tax queries.
Our trained and experienced staff have a good professional working relationship with the Revenue authorities. This coupled with a first class service, at affordable “value for money” prices, should give you the peace of mind that your tax affairs are being well looked after. It should also free up a fair bit of your time to enable you to do what you enjoy doing!
